Why did you come to Fuji Rock? -Visitor interviews at Fuji Rock Festival'25-【3】

This is a SPICE original project “Why did you come to Fuji Rock?” that investigates the appeal of Asia's largest outdoor music festival, Fuji Rock Festival, from various viewpoints about how Fuji Rock is seen in their eyes by conducting interviews with visitors from overseas. We interviewed at Naeba Ski Resort in Yuzawa, Niigata Prefecture from July 25 to July 27 in 2025.
“Fuji Rock Festival '25” featured over 200 domestic and international artists, including headliners Fred Again.., Vulfpeck, and Vampire Weekend, and attracted a total of 122,000 attendees over the four days, including the pre-festival party.Foreign visitors accounted for 20% of the total, and nearly half of them traveled from overseas.
This article introduces the fascination of “Fuji Rock” as reflected by 15 groups of overseas music fans.

Q1: “First time”

Q2: “I had heard about Fuji Rock and always wanted to come. Even music festivals are not accessible to families. This was one of the very few in the world that is accessible to families. So that's why we decided to come.”

Q3: “We're all very excited about the Creepy Nuts. They are famous because of the anime song.”

Q4: “It's been so great. We just didn't expect it to be so big. It's very well organized so many things to do, so many things for kids to do too which we like.”

“The lights are glowing like fairy lights. That's what I love about this place. And I love Kids land.”

Q5: “Lots of sunscreen and lots of walking so be prepared. It's more than you thought about.”

Q1: “Second time. Last year was for the first time.”

“It's very green and we used to come here for ski and a snowboard in winter. We've been to Naeba many times. So we found this place very attractive, even in summer.”

Q4: “Family friendly. We saw a lot of kids following their parents, young kids. You don't see that in China in the music festival. No, not much.”

Q5: “Better have a checklist. Especially the gears, equipment you brought with you, the shoes, and if you go for camping, you definitely have to have a checklist. And be prepared for the rain.”

“For the sun as well. And also the other thing quite important is to book the accommodation first.”

 

■So cool to get to discover a new band that way, and I'll definitely listen to their music when I go home after this.

Q3: “We really came for Vaundy, but also we're excited for Creepy Nuts and Radwimps.”

Q4: “I'm loving the whole experience, camping and seeing all the concerts. It's a really nice atmosphere.”

“It's very different from what an American festival would be like, but I think in a nice way. It's very relaxed.”

“We ended up staying in the Red Marquee and saw this new band that I've never seen before, Ginger Root. They were just amazing. It was so cool to get to discover a new band that way, and I'll definitely listen to their music when I go home after this.”

Q5: “We made the mistake of leaving our tent door open yesterday with all the rain, so make sure you close your tent door because it's hard to go back to the campsite once you leave it.”

Q2: “We're sisters but not traveling together. But we just meet up here at Fuji Rock for Vampire Weekend. We wanted to see them together because it was a thing growing up for us.”

Q4: “Oh, actually great. In terms of accommodating people, keeping it safe, medics everywhere. I've been observing because I do compare these things. And water is very important and that's accessible here.”

Q5: “Get your hats, get your raincoat because i was wet yesterday. Make sure you research for the attire appropriate attires. Just don't underestimate preparations.”

 

■I just want my family and my kids to enjoy the natural environment.

Q1: “This is the fourth time for the ladies, and the second time for the kids and dad.”

Q4: “The kids, he said he like the snake most. And the second one is the slide. I think Fuji Rock is kind for kids.”

“It's very different from Taiwan. Some of the festivals are nearby the ocean or something, but this is very nature. I like this one.”

Q5: “For the first time, maybe prepare all the raincoats. And the outfits for the Fuji Rock is very important. Because sometimes the sun is very strong. So use the sun to protect.”

 

FUJI ROCK FESTIVAL '26, scheduled to be held from July 24th to 26th, will feature headliners such as The xx, Khruangbin, and Massive Attack, as well as Japanese acts such as Fujii Kaze, XG, ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION, and Hi-STANDARD.
